Running of the Isle of Albion isn’t free, so if you feel like we’re doing this right and want to help us, You can donate to help us offset the cost and let us know our work is appreciated. We also offer incentives in return for donations, however You should ALWAYS talk to us about it in advance, as we need to keep a certain balance on the server. You can unlock alt character slots for your account by donating. This is in place so we don’t have too many small settlements run by a single RL person with alts.

What can You get in return for your $$

•Extra Character slots - Don’t feel like risking your hard earned crafting SP in combat? Need an alt to run your town? Well either get people to do it for you or….

•Pay $2 for second character slot

•Pay $6 for third character slot

•Pay $12 for 4th and last allowed character slot

•Extra Coin - Are You feeling too poor? Maybe need some coin for a Construction contract with Port of Albion?

     •Spend $1 for 10 Gold coins

•Optional name change - Feel like your name doesn’t have the right ring to it?

     •Pay $1 to change it.

•In case of Marriage You can choose to pay in Gold (10) Instead.

•Forced name changes due to your name being against the rules are free

•Conserving a settlement - Do You have a vacation, or a business trip, or any other reason that will prevent your from logging on and you don’t trust your men to keep the settlement safe? We can make sure you come back to the settlement as you left it.

•Pay $1 per 3 days of GM protection

Character Creation Guidelines

Isle of albion is a heavy RP server with a rich and evolving lore to which each player can contribute in their own way. For that They need a character with their own goals, desires, background and intrigue. We realise that not everyone is able to come up with such and thus we offer guidance in the form of questions and suggestions for your character to answer and take a cue from:

What is your name and race?

•This one needs little explanation, keep in mind you want to pick a name in accordance with server rules, not something like Bigtits McGee!

•The name must be believable, it can be exotic however.

•Think of the family name, perhaps it could be a whole dynasty, something your background can draw from.

•Remember different races fit different name-styles.

Where do you come from?

•It is important for your character to have a home, or origin. You are welcome to come up with your own story for this, or check out our Lore document to draw from one of the predefined Empires for your backstory.

•Do you come from a long dynasty of ancestors with their own history, or are you just a peasant from a small, humble family looking for more in life?

What motivated you to leave?

•Why did you finally decide to buy passage on a ship headed to Albion?

•Was it turmoil that struck your homestead?

•Maybe you became cross with your liege-lord or maybe you just got sick of the politics?

•Have a little fun with it, there can be many reasons finally leading to your character's decision to leave for good.

What are your desires?

•Everyone has goals in life. Your character shouldn’t be an exception.

•Does he seek fame? Power? Riches? Or mere tranquility and peaceful coexistence?

•Does he seek a partner in life?

•Does he have a hobby he wishes to pursue?

Are you traveling alone or with company?

•If you have real life friends joining you, are you family? Or are you just acquaintances from your homeland?

•Does your group seek to make their own stead, or join an existing one and not have to worry about the politics of leadership?

What are your beliefs?

•Do You follow any religion or are you an atheist?

•You can think up Your own, or again draw from the Lore document for the ones we already have lined out.

•You can convert if you like someone else's religion better for your character.

What are your fears?

•Is there anything Your character worries about?

•Trauma they went through in life?

How old are you?

•How old is your character?

•This can reflect in his wisdom and life experience and can affect how other people treat you.

•Your appearance should also reflect this as much as possible with the limited character creation options of LiF

Once You have answered all these, Your character should become fairly well rounded for You to work with. Remember, it’s who You are in game and it’s something You should be acting in accordance with. Of course, people change, Characters do as well, although there always is a reason why. In short, try and mold Your character to be fun for you and for others interacting with him. You can RP a madman if you feel like it, but stick to it if you do. As a madman, few will follow you, a lot will want to kill you and intelligent thought may be a problem for your character.

!!Remember!!

!Senseless griefing -is- against server rules and will be dealt with harshly!

>>You need a valid RP reason to grief people<<

If you are unsure about what you can and cannot do, ask GMs, but keep your questions intelligent. No trolling.

Life Is Feudal: Your Own [RP] / Isle of Albion - Lore
« Last post by CewHit76 on August 28, 2016, 04:08:06 am »
The Island is located in the Mediterranean sea, far from any usual trade routes between the Empires, the Isle of Albion is a time forgotten landmass rich in resources and lands to cultivate.

It was discovered in 1002 by accident when The Great Ventavian Empire’s trading fleet on a mission to Andjisong Khanate got sent off course by a storm and nearly wrecked on the island. It got its name there and then as a lowly deck scrub named Albion spotted the landmass barely in time to avoid collision.

Upon reporting the discovery to the Emperor Rufus Ventavius the Bold, a mission was sent to explore and settle on the island. It was soon discovered that Albion sat within the raiding radius of a nearby pirate island. After the loss of several trade convoys to piracy, funding a large enough fleet to protect the trade convoys was not deemed profitable.

A small dockside with a fishing hamlet was settled and then quickly forgotten and left to its own devices. Eventually the report itself found its way among nobility and slowly spread through the general populace through stories and intrigue. Rumours emerged of some who embarked there on their own to find a better, more independent life for themselves.

Some found favour and fortune on Albion. The hamlet prospered. Over time, a bustling, independent trade port emerged. Calling itself quite simply the Port of Albion, it developed connections with some daring merchants who travel there regularly to offer their excess stock and coin for exchange.

As knowledge of the island spreads, more and more people make their way to it to start anew, drawn by the new land outside of the influence of the empires.

Known ‘nearby’ empires

The Great Ventavian Empire   -   Full Lore

•Great power in the region that rose out of the ashes of Akkinean empire after its fall.

•It’s capital Ventava is extremely rich in trade, coin and culture.

•Similar to Roman empire.

•Dominant race is Gottlung, but all races are present more or less

•Main religion is Hellenism based

Skralinov Confederacy   -   Full Lore

•Rising power in the north founded from tribal remnants of the Slavard folk

•Capital Skralinov is doing relatively well for itself

•Think Vikings if they joined together

•Almost solely Slavard in terms of race

•Main religion is Norse based

Andjisong Khanate   -   Full Lore

•Prosperous and relatively calm empire in the south

•Capital Kyomesong is a beautiful merge of cultures and rich trade

•Think Mongols and Chinese adjoined

•Majority race is Khoor

•Main religion is the Heavenly Mandate

Founding Settlements

Port of Albion

•Leader: Shaokar Wilder

•Lore:
•First settled in the year 1005 by Ventavian Empire as ordered by the Emperor. Started off as a dock-site warehouse for logistical goods for the explorers, slowly became a small port village. Soon after a large pirate presence was discovered and raids for the carefully scheduled transport fleets became regular. The Empire cut their losses and focused on internal issues instead, leaving the Isle of Albion and whoever got stranded there to their own devices.

•The Port of Albion struck a hasty deal with the pirates at first, where in exchange for regular donations of produce, mainly food and alcohol, as well as weaponry, the Port was allowed to develop and flourish. Few years onward the location of the island became known enough that people bought passage with merchant ships and started finding their fortune and future on the Island. Some of the merchant ships decided to try their luck in the treacherous waters and visit occasionally to unload their spare stock and exchange it for something they can easily sell on the mainland. Thus came about the true age of prosperity for the Port of Albion and sir Wilder.

Purpose:
•Landing zone for new players
•Trade connection to the empires
•GM trade zone for buying/selling items and materials
•Zone for introducing people to the workings of Albion
•Most developed settlement
•Neutral in terms of Islands politics
•Place for GM events

Valenstrad (North)

•Leader: Thirsk EyVaskr

•Lore:
•The people of Valenstrad pray to the God Víðarr, however welcome men and women of all races and faiths. Thirsk EyVaskr came to Albion to seek new lands to call his own with the the best people he had left, willing to follow from his homeland.
•Thirsk being a True Northman, claimed the lands of Northern Albion, declared Kingship of the Northern region and aims to treat his people with due respect, provided they earn it.

      -        “To those who wish to settle In northern lands, I proclaim Kingship of these lands, name them Sigrún and ask for your oath that you will serve me and my house when called upon, for this I will grant Titles to those who prove their worth to the kingdom. I will Be forming a council and ask for representatives from every group who settle within my lands. I will seek justice to those who break the law in a court of justice. I wish to foster trade and goodwill among the people of the north. To these things I swear under the ever watching Eyes of the God Víðarr"

Acropolis (South)

•Leader: Agnar Yostad

•Lore:
•The people of Acropolis, who pray to the god Azros, follow Agnar Yostad who has settled in Albion after seeking new lands to expand his father's reign from a far away land.  After war ravaged his homeland and almost vanquished his people, it was the only sensible route to take.
•With the iron and gold rich soils of Albion, Agnar has decided that the Southern region of Albion would bid fair for his new home.  He has declared Kingship of the southern region and has sworn an by oath to treat all his people with dignity and respect.

        -    “To those who come to settle these lands, now here this!  I proclaim Kingship of these lands and name them as Sovereign Kingdom of Ruytan. Where I vouch to protect any clan that settles within these lands.  I will also enact swift justice to those who break the law and cause undue hardship upon other settlers!  I swear this on the name of my father.”

Economy

The economy of Albion is very coin centric and quite fluid thanks to the Port of Albion which keeps independent trade relations with some of the merchants willing to take the risk upon themselves for some extra profit, outside of their usual dealings amongst the nearby empires. It is up to You how You use your coin. Here are some basics

You should know:

Denominations
•1 Gold coin is worth 20 silver pieces or 400 copper pieces respectively
•1 Silver coin is worth 20 copper pieces
•1 Copper coin is worth a wenches wink

How can You make money?
•Each new character gets credited with 2 gold, 35 silver and 100 copper upon joining the server. This only happens during character creation and if you lose that money, it will not be refunded.
•Port of Albion will be happy to buy Your excess stock of items, the traders there are not overly picky as they can monetise virtually anything with the other merchants. Of course they will aim to profit as well, so you might stand more from selling those materials directly to other settlements on Albion who actually need it.
•Regular events will award coin for victors in their respective areas and the amount varies event to event
•You can try to steal the money from other players, but don’t whine when they band together and hunt you down.

What can You use the coin for?
•Port of Albion is able to fill orders for virtually anything, although it will cost You. Remember, there are pirates asail in the waters of Albion and merchants take a risk sailing there.
•You can trade with other settlements and can likely reach a more favourable price with them, as well as haggle. Skilled merchant might even profit from this.
•Coin is sought after, thus it can get you pretty much anything. You just need to find the right person for the job and offer the right amount of compensation.
•You can run your own events and offer prizes for the victors, getting renown in return. Great way to make allies, wouldn’t You say?
•And last but not least Port of Albion can accept and fill construction contracts.

Request, Rule Revision, Map or server updates / Re: Server Status updates?

Me too!! We got a few guys right now working on the towns and kingdoms. The bridge between the island (Port of Albion) and the mainland is being built. We have a few scripts that we need to re-implement. It's coming together - I'm chomping at the bit to get going too!! Hopefully the new server rules, histories, etc will be released soon. I'm letting the Server's Operations Manager handle the release of the information. The regional history and attention to detail is really something - reading through it makes it even more difficult to be patient!!

We are right now in the process of redesigning the server. The server is going to be wiped this Friday (8/19). It will be temporarily locked while a spawn town is created and the two kingdoms are developed. We are redesigning this server to be more heavy RP. The lore, histories, religions, new server rules, economy etc. have all been written. New GM events have been planned and everything has been centered at developing a more long term gameplay. Elements have been designed to keep people interested even after their 'guilds' have been established. All this information will be added this weekend both here on the forums and in the steam group; we've been working on this for the last couple of weeks. Two 'kings' have been selected (both of whom are not GMs by the way). A lord mayor for the Port of Albion (spawn town) has also been elected (once again, also not a GM). GMs will be present to monitor global chat, which is to be used for GM requests/rules help, and to provide tech support.

The server hasn't gone away, nor will it. It is just in a transitional phase!  :D I'm actually looking forward to this new version of the server. It promises to have a lot more RP and a lot more long term playability!

When we opened Isle Of Albion, we wanted to have more strict RP. However, with LIF's current state, most of the required tools prevent that. (Unless you have like, 20 GMs.)

With the help of [LRRP] Gnif and some new [LRRP] Members, we're comfortable with pushing to make a more serious RP server. We have chatlogs and other interesting tools. I'm no longer helping with the LIF project so I can't really say much.. Any questions should be directed towards Cewhit and Shao.
