DayZ / Re: Unclear on clan status.

Well, if you're confused, I'm doubly so.. what is this referring to and when did this occur? Which server, and who was involved?

Yesterday, the only server I recall LRRP being on was an epoch/origins server we've been playing on. There were only 3 of us on at the time: myself, Wolf and Blaster. I don't recall engaging anyone at all yesterday, let alone ourselves.

Like I said, I need a lot more information to try and address your concern because frankly, I haven't the faintest idea what you are referring to.

Are auto restarts enabled? I remember discussing with you guys 4 hours restarts, but I'm not sure if that is actually happening.

DayZ / Re: Server hanging while logging on?
« on: April 21, 2014, 06:25:52 pm »
Thank you for letting us know! I've gone ahead and restarted the server and was able to log in successfully. It is a bit slower than usual for some reason, but I did log in okay. Will look into why it's taking a bit longer for the login, but for right now, you should be good to go.

I must say as well that I appreciate your understanding and response to this. Now if this was the sort of behavior you brought to the group and maintained, well... I doubt this thread would exist right now.

You asked a specific question about what was done regarding your behavior. Well, I will tell you (not to be a dick in anyway, but hopefully to take something from the experience and like you said, learn from it). First of all, you are a fairly competitive individual. That isn't a bad thing per say; however, the constant trying to 'one-up' others isn't necessarily conducive to a 'team'. For example, I know Wolf is a hell of a sniper. Whenever it comes to a time when a sniper is needed, I let the guy who is most experienced take over. If he needs me to do something to support him as the sniper, then by all means he takes command. I don't feel it is necessary for me to try and take a shot and compromise our position or whatever just to try to show him up. Being competitive prevents you from being a solid team player. ID your strengths, build on them, and then take charge in areas you feel confident in and that others acknowledge your ability in.

With regards to a specific instance I can recall from Origins I would have to refer to the Dead Forest. Trying to outshine Juggy's ability to quickly get in and get out with the Explorer Pack and circuit boards. You managed it a couple times with a lot of assistance/guidance, and then would brag about the achievement (no matter how big or small)to any and all. You don't need to brag, others will see what you've done and word will get around. You don't need to try and force others to respect you - that is earned over time and happens on all its own.

Also, opinions matter. Regarding the DarkRP server, Marcel had a specific idea in mind and you just circumvented it without regard. Though you may have thought you were helping, but by doing something without at least talking with Marcel first about it shows disrespect to him. If there is one thing I am most proud of about LRRP and its current members, though we may disagree with each other from time to time and bicker about some things that are done, we all respect each other. None of us would do anything of the sort. We have an idea, we discuss it. And if your opinion or idea is outweighed for reasons, then well... you just suck it up and move on. For example, a bunch of us want AI on the Epoch server. However, the admin side of things is a nightmare for Geoff so he vetoes it. And he has every right to do so. We may moan and complain a little bit, but we still respect one another. You know what I mean?

So yeah, those are some of my comments. I hope they don't upset you. I'm mentioning all of this with positive intention. And like what Geoff said, if we are still around (I like to think so - haha) in however many years down the road, a reassessment can be done most certainly.

That's cool. Might just hold off until your return - solo on populated server = fail.

Been playin' on an Aussie server - averages about 15-20 guys. Fairly laidback - a few bandits. Just been checking out the game and the latest additions. Heck of a lot more playable than Standalone atm.

Nice!! That was pretty cool. I like that 'patrol' we went on. If anything, it's given us a ton of ideas for an RP variation of stand-alone!!

General Discussion / What is LRRP?
« on: March 03, 2014, 07:29:53 pm »
A Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol, or "LRRP" (pronounced "Lurp"), is a small, heavily armed long-range reconnaissance team that patrols deep in enemy-held territory.

Historically, the first LRRP team was formed in December of 1965 (part of the 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division), and by April of 1966, the 1st Infantry Division, 25th Infantry Division and 173rd Airborne Brigade formed LRRP units as well. On July 8, 1966, General William Westmoreland authorized the formation of a (LRRP) unit in each infantry brigade or division in Vietnam. By 1967 formal LRRP companies were organized, most having three platoons, each with five six-man teams equipped with VHF/FM AN/PRC-25 radios. LRRP training was notoriously rigorous and team leaders were often graduates of the U.S. Army's 5th Special Forces Recondo School in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

As far as our online gaming platoon goes, gnif, Blaster and myself (CewHit76) founded the team over a year ago. We met when we were playing Battlefield 3 and have been playing together in FPS multiplayers since. We have a small platoon of 10 guys, but those who are apart of the team are committed to making the squad the best we can. We enjoy playing ARMAII and all its spin-offs! Our current favorites are DayZ Origins and A.C.E. We have no real command structure like some tactical realism clans have. Basically, the way it works, is that whoever has more experience in a given area, we defer to him. We can operate individually or in small teams, and each of us brings something unique and beneficial to the squad's gameplay.

We look forward to playing with you, and remember, "Stay a LRRP, stay alive!"

ArmA II / Enabling Side Chat
« on: February 28, 2014, 01:42:57 pm »
We also need to re-enable side chat on the ACE server. If we need to communicate using 'Direct Channel,' maybe we can use one of those in-base note boards for some of the TS information and the necessity to switch to the 'direct channel' when using the radios. We talked about removing the one board that had the remnants of the Phantactical's radio info - maybe we can just change the information to what we need?
