General Questions / Re: Death from fall off tower roof?

Unfortunately as LiF is early access bugs like this are to be expected, there is little we can do to fix this.

See attached for a laugh!

For those that might be worried, this is all on a local test server, this development work will not affect the public LiF server.

Badass!  Speakers look good, are they custom?

Thanks! They are indeed, they are custom made bi amplified (not to be confused with bi-wired) mid-high range speakers, 100W RMS each. I built a custom pre-amplifier that uses Linkwitz-Riley active crossovers to split up the frequencies before amplification for low (< 120Hz) mid (< 1.2KHz) and high. The mid and high outputs are fed into a four channel amplifier, and then each driver in each speaker is fed directly from the amplifier without any passive crossovers or filtering. The low output is fed into an active sub woofer I scavenged from a junk pile and bypassed it's tonal controls, so the signal from my pre-amplifier is fed directly into the sub's amplifier without any additional filtering, etc.

To determine the best crossover frequencies, I am no mathematician, so I used an adjustable dbx active crossover I repaired from eBay, which allowed me to tune and play with the output until I found the best crossover points for each individual driver for my liking. It is tuned to sound good and not favor any particular type of music, from Bach to the BEP, it sounds great.

Since I took over the tonal controls for the sub I also installed a sub level control right up with the volume controls on the pre-amp, which makes it handy for night time listening so I do not disturb the family/neighbors. It is also great to boost it up a little when playing games with explosions, etc... nice to feel them :).

The net result is a small hifi system that truly kicks the crap out of anything you can buy for under $10,000 and only cost me about $500 to build in total. Nobody sells bi-amplified systems anymore (since the late 1970's), the era of audio professionals has ended and now we just have "audiophiles" that will buy anything if it costs lots of money, because it must be better.

If you want a true audio experience, avoid passive crossovers at all costs and invest the extra cash in the additional amplifiers needed to drive each driver individually.

General Questions / Re: New player trolled?

Thanks but to be honest the evidence provided is a little late to the game and can be challenged by the other party. We will still follow this up though and make sure Nico fully understands the server rules and that if he is caught failing to abide by them his steam account will be banned from the server.

There is one thing, when the guy logged off the first thing I did was write to the chat and say "The guy came back and trolled me". If you can get a chat log and check the time stamp you might be able to see who logged off at that moment.

Unfortunatly LIF doesn't log the chat on the server, we are working to address this but without some evidence from you there is nothing we can do at current I am sorry.

He said he is in Mountain Standard Time, which would put him somewhere in the middle part of the US.

Where I live I am on 'Mountain Standard Time' also, this is not unique to America.

Hi,

This behaviour is completely non RP and you are correct to complain, but unfortunatly unless you can provide the player's name there is very little we can do. I too am the victim of someone raiding my equipment but unfortunatly I have no idea who and as such can do nothing. I am sorry but all I can suggest is that in future, until you get your claim sorted out keep any valuables on your person.

Announcements / Re: Game servers discontinued until further notice
« on: May 24, 2016, 03:04:28 pm »
I want to mention for our Life Is Feudal players, this announcement does not reflect on the LiF server.

Sorry yes, this only affects the ARK and Minecraft servers.

Announcements / Game servers discontinued until further notice
« on: May 23, 2016, 11:32:37 am »
As some of you are already aware, due to the cost of keeping servers online and changes in my personal life, I no longer can afford to maintain the minecraft or ARK server hosting costs. But this is not all bad news, where I live is finally getting upgraded for internet connectivity which means I will have enough bandwidth to host the game servers from my local network. The ETA on network completion is projected for mid August, so until then the servers are now officially offline.

Note: I have taken complete backups of the servers and when brought back online the worlds in minecraft and ARK will remain.
