Character Creation Guidelines

Isle of albion is a heavy RP server with a rich and evolving lore to which each player can contribute in their own way. For that They need a character with their own goals, desires, background and intrigue. We realise that not everyone is able to come up with such and thus we offer guidance in the form of questions and suggestions for your character to answer and take a cue from:

What is your name and race?

•This one needs little explanation, keep in mind you want to pick a name in accordance with server rules, not something like Bigtits McGee!

•The name must be believable, it can be exotic however.

•Think of the family name, perhaps it could be a whole dynasty, something your background can draw from.

•Remember different races fit different name-styles.

Where do you come from?

•It is important for your character to have a home, or origin. You are welcome to come up with your own story for this, or check out our Lore document to draw from one of the predefined Empires for your backstory.

•Do you come from a long dynasty of ancestors with their own history, or are you just a peasant from a small, humble family looking for more in life?

What motivated you to leave?

•Why did you finally decide to buy passage on a ship headed to Albion?

•Was it turmoil that struck your homestead?

•Maybe you became cross with your liege-lord or maybe you just got sick of the politics?

•Have a little fun with it, there can be many reasons finally leading to your character's decision to leave for good.

What are your desires?

•Everyone has goals in life. Your character shouldn’t be an exception.

•Does he seek fame? Power? Riches? Or mere tranquility and peaceful coexistence?

•Does he seek a partner in life?

•Does he have a hobby he wishes to pursue?

Are you traveling alone or with company?

•If you have real life friends joining you, are you family? Or are you just acquaintances from your homeland?

•Does your group seek to make their own stead, or join an existing one and not have to worry about the politics of leadership?

What are your beliefs?

•Do You follow any religion or are you an atheist?

•You can think up Your own, or again draw from the Lore document for the ones we already have lined out.

•You can convert if you like someone else's religion better for your character.

What are your fears?

•Is there anything Your character worries about?

•Trauma they went through in life?

How old are you?

•How old is your character?

•This can reflect in his wisdom and life experience and can affect how other people treat you.

•Your appearance should also reflect this as much as possible with the limited character creation options of LiF

Once You have answered all these, Your character should become fairly well rounded for You to work with. Remember, it’s who You are in game and it’s something You should be acting in accordance with. Of course, people change, Characters do as well, although there always is a reason why. In short, try and mold Your character to be fun for you and for others interacting with him. You can RP a madman if you feel like it, but stick to it if you do. As a madman, few will follow you, a lot will want to kill you and intelligent thought may be a problem for your character.

!!Remember!!

!Senseless griefing -is- against server rules and will be dealt with harshly!

>>You need a valid RP reason to grief people<<

If you are unsure about what you can and cannot do, ask GMs, but keep your questions intelligent. No trolling.
