A Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol, or "LRRP" (pronounced "Lurp"), is a small, heavily armed long-range reconnaissance team that patrols deep in enemy-held territory.
Historically, the first LRRP team was formed in December of 1965 (part of the 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division), and by April of 1966, the 1st Infantry Division, 25th Infantry Division and 173rd Airborne Brigade formed LRRP units as well. On July 8, 1966, General William Westmoreland authorized the formation of a (LRRP) unit in each infantry brigade or division in Vietnam. By 1967 formal LRRP companies were organized, most having three platoons, each with five six-man teams equipped with VHF/FM AN/PRC-25 radios. LRRP training was notoriously rigorous and team leaders were often graduates of the U.S. Army's 5th Special Forces Recondo School in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghraumiVO2wAs far as our online gaming platoon goes, gnif, Blaster and myself (CewHit76) founded the team over a year ago. We met when we were playing Battlefield 3 and have been playing together in FPS multiplayers since. We have a small platoon of 10 guys, but those who are apart of the team are committed to making the squad the best we can. We enjoy playing ARMAII and all its spin-offs! Our current favorites are DayZ Origins and A.C.E. We have no real command structure like some tactical realism clans have. Basically, the way it works, is that whoever has more experience in a given area, we defer to him. We can operate individually or in small teams, and each of us brings something unique and beneficial to the squad's gameplay.
We look forward to playing with you, and remember, "Stay a LRRP, stay alive!"
